GivingTuesday is Tuesday, November 27th, and this year ALAN has partnered with Humanity Road and Healthcare Ready to promote the work all of our organizations do to support the disaster response community with information and resources. In that spirit of collaboration, please enjoy this guest blog from Humanity Road!

CHOOSING A CHARITY THIS GIVING TUESDAY

Published with permission, https://www.humanityroad.org/our-blog/choosing-a-charity-this-giving-tuesday

We hope you never need to face being surrounded by rising flood waters, burning lava or wildfires that move at the speed of 80 football feet every sixty seconds.  This year, people across the United States have been experiencing all of these events. Survival is a race against the clock, and when you survive with only the clothing on your back, every step in your personal recovery can be a challenge.  To get back on your feet, you need the information on how to survive, sustain, and reunite. Will you know where to go to get medicines? Are there pharmacies operating near you? In addition, will the materials you need such as food or even clean-up kits be available to you when you need them most?

Humanity Road, Healthcare Ready and the American Logistics Aid Network (ALAN) are uniting to bring you important messages for Giving Tuesday.   Giving your time or money is a big decision. After all, you have the power to change lives! In light of that, we urge you to support those who have been impacted by disasters by giving to organizations that help the entire response chain.  Humanity Road, Healthcare Ready and ALAN provide critical information, medical and logistics support, all of which are critical to improving the availability of aid. Your help is needed now more than ever before.

When disaster strikes, every call for help should be heard. This year, for Giving Tuesday, give from the heart. That way, help – and hope – can arrive sooner.

About the Organizations

Healthcare Ready.  https://www.healthcareready.org/join-us
Health Care Ready helps to strengthen healthcare supply chains through collaboration with public health and private sectors by addressing pressing issues before, during, and after disasters. As the convener of industry and government, we safeguard patient health by providing solutions to critical problems. And, we provide best practices for healthcare preparedness and response.

Humanity Road https://humanityroad.org/appeal
Humanity Road connects people, animals and emergency officials with help and resources when disaster strikes. During a disaster, impacted areas become overwhelmed, and viable lifesaving solutions and information can become impossible to find. Using innovative technology and social listening platforms, Humanity Road helps locate, organize and connect people and communities with valuable information and critical resources.

American Logistics Aid Network (ALAN) https://www.alanaid.org/giving-tuesday/
ALAN is an industry-wide organization that exists to provide supply chain assistance to disaster relief organizations (and other non-profits). We do this by bringing the expertise and resources of the logistics industry together with non-profit disaster relief organizations so that we can help solve their most pressing supply chain challenges immediately after disasters strike. That way, help – and hope – arrive sooner.
